Lincoln National Park is December’s ‘Park of the Month’

A host of events are planned including activities to explore the coast, taking a self-guided drive, bushwalking, or joining rangers for a guided, family ‘Beach Bingo’ event.

Coastal Ranger Elly Schultz will co-host the Beach Bingo family events at September Beach with the Friends of Southern Eyre Peninsula Parks volunteers.

“This special two hour school-holiday nature event, on Monday 17 and Friday 21 December from 10am, is all about getting families outdoors,” Elly said.

“Life can get a bit frantic in the last month of the year so it’s important slow down and to make some time for nature play and quality family connections.

“Come enjoy the shallows and see critters that live at September Beach, and meet the passionate volunteers that help maintain the park.

“We are likely to see hooded plovers, crabs, colourful sea sponges, fruiting seagrasses and maybe even a nudibranch – a type of sea slug.

“This is bound to be a popular event, and is suitable for supervised children aged four and upwards; so please be sure to book to attend this free event.”

Adventurous park visitors can choose their own self-guided activities, and can find more information about visiting Lincoln National Park on the National Parks South Australia website.

Local Rangers will be hosting five school groups on guided park walks and marine debris clean-ups in early December, and say there is high demand for this type of activity.

Teachers may access free Lincoln National Park resources online, including a brochure offering 40 things to do in the Park.
