Grants for heritage conservation work
A second round of grants from the SA Heritage Grants Program will fund conservation works on 25 State Heritage places.
This is in addition to the 27 projects that received funding in the first round earlier this year.
The State Government initiative aims to help rejuvenate the state’s built heritage and ensure it is preserved for future generations.
Recipients in the latest round will undertake work at a range of heritage places, including Milang Butter Factory, Cape Jaffa Lighthouse, Holy Trinity Church in Adelaide, Angaston Railway Station and Clare Institute Library.
The repairs include structural stabilisation, façade restoration, stonework, re-roofing and plaster work.
The successful projects were selected by a panel of heritage architects and experts.
The grants range from $1900 to $20 000. They cover up to 50 per cent of the anticipated costs of conservation works or documentation, with the recipient responsible for matching funding.
In some cases, in-kind labour and materials might be recognised as part of the matching contribution.
The State Government committed $500 000 to part-fund projects under the program, but the outcome is expected to deliver more than $3.4 million worth of conservation works.
