Opportunities for SMEs the focus at SA’s second Industry Climate Change Conference

The conference will have a particular focus on opportunities for small and medium businesses and action being taken to build a climate resilient and net-zero emissions future.

The state government recently released South Australia’s Net Zero Strategy which highlighted opportunities to unlock economic and job creation opportunities of climate action.

The Net Zero Strategy will guide the state’s efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by at least 60 per cent by 2030 and progress to net zero emissions by 2050.

The Industry Climate Change Conference will show businesses how they can benefit from addressing climate risk, tap into low-emissions economic growth and work towards a clean, green and prosperous future.

It will provide practical and relevant information to help businesses reduce emissions and become more resilient to the impacts of climate change.

Director Special Projects for Climate with the Department for Environment and Water Dr Neil McFarlane said the 2025 conference will build on the success of the inaugural conference held in 2023 which attracted more than 850 delegates and inspired practical action across key economic sectors.

“Small businesses are the backbone of our economy and have an important role to play in tackling climate change and capitalising on the global green transition,” Dr McFarlane said.

“By taking action business can reduce costs, meet consumer and supply chain expectations, attract investment and enhance resilience to climate risks.”

Chair of the Premier’s Climate Change Council Martin Haese said the conference is an opportunity for the business community to share innovative thinking and practical ideas about how to accelerate emissions reductions and align their business strategy with the expectations of their clients.

“Nationally and globally, there is growing community and investor interest in climate change impacts and the challenges and opportunities of decarbonising industry, reducing emissions and slowing global warming,” Mr Haese said.

“This conference informs and supports the business community with understanding the requirements of future climate change reporting as well as the need to respond to policy and market signals.”

Don't miss this unique opportunity to hear from experts, network with government, industry and business sectors and take practical action to support the future growth of your business.

For a limited time, small to medium businesses can register attendees for the two-day conference for only $295.00 per participant, while for larger corporate firms the price is $495 per participant.
