Prescribed burn at Little Para Reservoir
Date posted: 30 Mar. 2020
A prescribed burn is planned at Little Para Reservoir on Monday 30 March weather conditions permitting.
- The prescribed burn will start at 12 noon on Monday 30 March 2020 and should be complete by 6pm that day.
- The burn will impact 19.1 hectares in the central part of the reservoir reserve, about 3.5km south west of One Tree Hill.
- A small amount of smoke and some fire activity will be present after the burn, but fire crews will continue to patrol and mop up until the burn is blacked out.
- This burn is being undertaken to control the noxious weed, Coolatai and to reduce the overall fuel hazard.
The burn will be carried out by the National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) on SA Water land.
The objective of this burn is to reduce fuels in the area to prevent the spread of bushfire. It is part of a statewide program of prescribed burning planned to protect communities and assets at risk.
Prescribed burns will only be carried out when it is deemed safe to do so and may be cancelled at short notice.
