Prescribed burn in Kulliparu Conservation Park
Date posted: 16 Apr. 2020
A prescribed burn is planned in Kulliparu Conservation Park on Wednesday 15 April weather conditions permitting.
- The prescribed burn will start at 2.00pm on Wednesday 15 April 2020 and should be complete by 10:00pmthat day.
- The burn will impact 700 hectares of land in the north-west corner of the Conservation Park to the east of Port Kenny.
- This burn aims to create a fuel reduced landscape buffer within the park and reduce the risk of fire moving through the landscape.
The burn will be carried out by the National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) and the local CFS brigade has been invited to attend.
The prescribed burn will produce a significant amount of smoke, which is normal of burns this size. A crew will remain on site until it is safe to leave.
Prescribed burns will only be carried out when it is deemed safe to do so and may be cancelled at short notice.
