Prescribed burn in Lake Frome Conservation Park

A prescribed burn is planned in Lake Frome Conservation Park on Wednesday 3 June, weather conditions permitting.
- The prescribed burn will start at 11.00am and should be complete by 8:00pm on Wednesday 3 June 2020.
- The burn will impact an estimated 157.2 hectares of land within the park.
- The Southern Ports Highway and Southend access roads may be impacted by smoke at times. Signage will be placed warning motorists.
- This is a fuel reduction, landscape protection burn with the added benefit of improving habitat for several threatened species.
The burn will be carried out by the National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS). A crew will remain on site until it is safe to leave.
It is part of a statewide program of prescribed burning planned to protect communities and assets at risk.
Prescribed burns will only be carried out when it is deemed safe to do so and may be cancelled at short notice.
