Prescribed burn in Ngarkat Conservation Park
Date posted: 05 Aug. 2020
A prescribed burn is planned in Ngarkat Conservation Park today, Wednesday 5 August, weather conditions permitting.
- The prescribed burn will commence at 12:00pm on Wednesday 5 August 2020 and should be completed by 9:00pm that evening.
- The burn will impact an estimated 20 hectares of land in the north of the park, near Lameroo South Road.
- This burn aims to create a fuel reduced buffer within the park to reduce the risk of fire moving through the landscape.
The burn will be carried out by the National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS). A crew will remain on site until it is safe to leave.
It is part of a statewide program of prescribed burning planned to protect communities and assets at risk.
Prescribed burns will only be carried out when it is deemed safe to do so and may be cancelled at short notice.
