Prescribed burn at Dudley Conservation Park
Date posted: 16 Oct. 2020
A prescribed burn is planned in Dudley Conservation Park, on Friday 16 October 2020, weather conditions permitting.
- The prescribed burns will commence at 10:30 am and are likely to be completed by 6:00 pm on Friday 16 October.
- The area to be burnt is 12.5 hectares located along the northern boundary of Dudley Conservation Park adjacent to East West Road approximately two kilometres south of Baudin Beach.
- This fuel reduction burn is to provide an additional buffer to East West Road in preparation for a further upcoming planned prescribed burn in the park.
- Speeds will be affected on East West Road for the period of the burn and traffic restrictions will be put in place if smoke reduces visibility.
The burns will be conducted by the Department for Environment and Water. The objective of prescribed burning is to reduce fuel loads to mitigate the risk of bushfire. These burns are part of a statewide program of prescribed burning planned to protect communities and assets at risk.
Prescribed burns will only be carried out when it is deemed safe to do so and may be cancelled at short notice.
