Prescribed burn at Belair National Park
Date posted: 01 May 2024
A prescribed burn is planned at Belair National Park, in the Adelaide Mount Lofty Ranges, on Thursday 2 May, weather conditions permitting.
- The burn will start at 10.15am on Thursday 2 May and is likely to be completed by 5:00pm that evening.
- The area to be burnt is 10.4 hectares between Queen Jubilee Drive and Saddle Hill Road in the northeast corner of the park.
- This burn will assist in extending the fuel reduction buffer and overall landscape protection in conjunction with previous burns.
- Sheoak Road and Queens Jubilee Drive will likely be impacted by smoke.
- National Parks and Wildlife Service crews will remain on site until safe.
NPWSSA conducts a statewide program of prescribed burns to reduce the spread and intensity of bushfires, protect communities and enhance biodiversity. Prescribed burning is just one tool used to reduce fuel loads across strategic areas of public and private land.
Prescribed burns will only be carried out when it is deemed safe to do so and may be cancelled at short notice.
