Prescribed burn at Bullock Hill Conservation Park
Date posted: 06 Nov. 2024
A prescribed burn is planned at Bullock Hill Conservation Park, near Ashbourne in the Adelaide Mount Lofty Ranges, on Wednesday 6 November, weather conditions permitting.
- The burn will start at 12:00pm on Wednesday 6 November and is likely to be completed by 6:00pm that evening.
- The area to be burnt is 11.3 hectares along the eastern side of the park east of Ashbourne and west of Strathalbyn.
- It is a landscape protection burn to reduce the likelihood of the whole park burning in a single bushfire event.
- Walking trails within Bullock Hill Conservation Park will be closed during burn operations.
- Wattle Flat Road may be impacted by smoke.
- National Parks and Wildlife Service crews will remain on site until safe.
NPWSSA conducts a statewide program of prescribed burns to reduce the spread and intensity of bushfires, protect communities and enhance biodiversity. Prescribed burning is just one tool used to reduce fuel loads across strategic areas of public and private land.
Prescribed burns will only be carried out when it is deemed safe to do so and may be cancelled at short notice.
