Prescribed burn at Carey Gully
Date posted: 26 Apr. 2024
A prescribed burn is planned at Carey Gully in the Mount Lofty Ranges, on Saturday 27 April 2024, weather conditions permitting.
- The burn will start at 12.45pm and is likely to be completed by 5pm the same day.
- The area to be burnt is 5.5 hectares on private land Ranns Road South and Boundary Drive.
- The burn is part of a long-term strategic fuel reduction plan aimed at reducing the risks of bushfire to the communities of Basket Range and
- Carey Gully.
- No roads or trails will be closed.
- Light smoke may drift across Carey Gully for a short time, however it is expected that this will clear quickly.
- National Parks and Wildlife Service crews will remain on site until safe.
NPWSSA conducts a statewide program of prescribed burns to reduce the spread and intensity of bushfires, protect communities and enhance biodiversity.
Prescribed burning is just one tool used to reduce fuel loads across strategic areas of public and private land. Prescribed burns will only be carried out when it is deemed safe to do so and may be cancelled at short notice.
