Prescribed burn at Carey Gully (Boundary Drive 5)
Date posted: 30 Nov. 2022
A prescribed burn is planned at Carey Gully on private land on Wednesday 30 November, weather conditions permitting.
- The prescribed burn will start at 12.00pm and is likely to be completed by 5:00pm the same day.
- The area to be burnt is 11.2 hectares of private land along Steer Road and Fire Track 9, directly south of Lobethal Road in Basket Range.
- This burn is part of a long term strategic fuel reduction plan aimed at reducing the risks of bushfire fire to the communities of Basket Range and Carey Gully.
- No roads will be closed.
- Smoke could impact Lobethal Road.
NPWSSA conducts a statewide program of prescribed burns to reduce the spread and intensity of bushfires, protect communities and enhances biodiversity. Prescribed burning is just one tool used to reduce fuel loads across strategic areas of public and private land.
Prescribed burns will only be carried out when it is deemed safe to do so and may be cancelled at short notice.
