Prescribed burn at Chain of Ponds

Date posted: 03 Dec. 2024

A prescribed burn is planned at Chain of Ponds in the Mount Lofty Ranges on Tuesday, weather conditions permitting.

  • The prescribed burn will start at 12.45pm on Tuesday December 3, 2024 and is likely to be completed by 8pm the same day.
  • The area to be burnt is 5.9 hectares on private land along Adelaide Gully Road.
  • This burn is being conducted to reduce fuel loads along Adelaide Gully Road, which is connected to important native vegetation to the south in Millbrook Reservoir.
  • No roads or trails will be closed throughout the burn.
  • Smoke will be visible around Adelaide Gully Road.
  • National Parks and Wildlife Service crews will remain on site until safe.

NPWSSA conducts a statewide program of prescribed burns to reduce the spread and intensity of bushfires, protect communities and enhance biodiversity. Prescribed burning is just one tool used to reduce fuel loads across strategic areas of public and private land.

Prescribed burns will only be carried out when it is deemed safe to do so and may be cancelled at short notice.
