Prescribed burn at Cobbler Creek Recreation Park

A prescribed burn is planned at Cobbler Creek Recreation Park on Thursday, weather conditions permitting.
- The prescribed burn will start at 12.45pm Thursday October 3 2024 and is likely to be completed by 6.30pm the same day.
- The area to be burnt is 7.4ha within the park, which is between Salisbury East and Golden Grove.
- This burn is the first in a series of burns in this area proposed to help manage the abundance of Native Panic Grass and promote a more diverse grassland habitat.
- No roads or trails will be closed during the burn.
- Bridge Road and The Grove Way may be impacted by smoke.
- National Parks and Wildlife Service crews will remain on site until safe.
NPWSSA conducts a statewide program of prescribed burns to reduce the spread and intensity of bushfires, protect communities and enhance biodiversity. Prescribed burning is just one tool used to reduce fuel loads across strategic areas of public and private land.
Prescribed burns will only be carried out when it is deemed safe to do so and may be cancelled at short notice.
