Prescribed burn at Dudley Conservation Park
Date posted: 08 Nov. 2024
A prescribed burn is planned at Dudley Conservation Park on Kangaroo Island, on Sunday 10 November, weather conditions permitting.
- The burn will start at 10.00am on Sunday 10 November and is likely to be completed by 6:00pm that evening.
- The area to be burnt is 124.3 hectares within the park directly south of East West Road, five kilometres southeast of Baudin Beach.
- It is a landscape protection burn to reduce the fuel hazard to interrupt the spread and impact of bushfire through the area.
- No roads will be closed.
- East West Road and Hog Bay Road may be impacted by smoke.
- National Parks and Wildlife Service crews will remain on site until safe.
NPWSSA conducts a statewide program of prescribed burns to reduce the spread and intensity of bushfires, protect communities and enhance biodiversity.
Prescribed burning is just one tool used to reduce fuel loads across strategic areas of public and private land.
Prescribed burns will only be carried out when it is deemed safe to do so and may be cancelled at short notice.
