Prescribed burn at Millbrook
Date posted: 01 Oct. 2024
A prescribed burn is planned at Millbrook Reservoir Reserve in the Mount Lofty Ranges on Wednesday October 2, 2024, weather conditions permitting.
- The prescribed burn will start at 11.30am Wednesday October 2, 2024 and is likely to be completed by 6pm the same day.
- The area to be burnt is 21.4ha on SA Water land adjacent to North East Road, near the township of Inglewood.
- The aim of this burn is to reduce the fuels adjacent North East Road. It will also provide landscape protection benefits to the towns of Paracombe and Inglewood, while also breaking up connected fuel loads in the Millbrook Reservoir.
- No roads or tracks within the reservoir reserve will be closed as this is a non-public access site.
- North East Road is likely to be impacted by smoke.
- National Parks and Wildlife Service crews will remain on site until safe.
NPWSSA conducts a statewide program of prescribed burns to reduce the spread and intensity of bushfires, protect communities and enhance biodiversity. Prescribed burning is just one tool used to reduce fuel loads across strategic areas of public and private land.
Prescribed burns will only be carried out when it is deemed safe to do so and may be cancelled at short notice.
