Prescribed burn at Monarto Woodlands Conservation Park
Date posted: 08 Nov. 2024
A prescribed burn is planned at Monarto Woodlands Conservation Park, in the Murraylands, on Sunday 10 November, weather conditions permitting.
- The burn will start at 12.30pm on Sunday 10 November and is likely to be completed by 7:00pm that evening.
- The area to be burnt is 43 hectares within the park, adjacent to the South Eastern Freeway, in Monarto South near Murray Bridge.
- It is a fuel reduction burn to reduce the risk to adjacent assets of significant value.
- Speed restrictions will be in place for a small section of the South Eastern Freeway.
- White Road and Pope Road may be impacted by smoke.
- National Parks and Wildlife Service crews will remain on site until safe.
NPWSSA conducts a statewide program of prescribed burns to reduce the spread and intensity of bushfires, protect communities and enhance biodiversity. Prescribed burning is just one tool used to reduce fuel loads across strategic areas of public and private land.
Prescribed burns will only be carried out when it is deemed safe to do so and may be cancelled at short notice.
