Prescribed burn at Morialta Conservation Park
Date posted: 16 Apr. 2024
A prescribed burn is planned at Morialta Conservation Park in the Mount Lofty Ranges on Wednesday 17 April 2024, weather conditions permitting.
- The burn will start at 1.30pm and is likely to be completed by 6pm on Wednesday 17 April.
- The area to be burnt is 29 hectares at the eastern end of the park near Moores Road, between Colonial Track and Third Falls Track.
- This is a landscape protection within the park to reduce the fire risk to the residents of nearby Norton Summit.
- No roads or tracks will be closed.
- Smoke may be visible throughout the burn.
- National Parks and Wildlife Service crews will remain on site until safe.
NPWSSA conducts a statewide program of prescribed burns to reduce the spread and intensity of bushfires, protect communities and enhance biodiversity. Prescribed burning is just one tool used to reduce fuel loads across strategic areas of public and private land.
Prescribed burns will only be carried out when it is deemed safe to do so and may be cancelled at short notice.
