Prescribed burn at Mount Bold Reservoir Reserve
Date posted: 03 May 2024
A prescribed burn is planned within Mount Bold Reservoir Reserve, in the Adelaide Mount Lofty Ranges, on Sunday 5 May, weather conditions permitting.
- The burn will start at 11.15am on Sunday 5 May and is likely to be completed by 6:00pm that evening.
- The area to be burnt is 8.2 hectares along Track 56 within the reserve, east of Marshall Road approximately 2.5km south of Cherry Gardens.
- It is a landscape protection burn to reduce the likelihood of the whole reservoir burning in a single bushfire event.
- No roads will be closed.
- Lewis Street and Brumby Street may be impacted by smoke on the day of the burn.
- National Parks and Wildlife Service crews will remain on site until safe.
NPWSSA conducts a statewide program of prescribed burns to reduce the spread and intensity of bushfires, protect communities and enhance biodiversity.
Prescribed burning is just one tool used to reduce fuel loads across strategic areas of public and private land. Prescribed burns will only be carried out when it is deemed safe to do so and may be cancelled at short notice.
