Prescribed burn at Mount Bold Reservoir Reserve

Date posted: 26 Sep. 2024

A prescribed burn is planned at Mount Bold Reservoir Reserve, in the Adelaide Mount Lofty Ranges, on Friday 27 September, weather conditions permitting.

  • The burn will start at 11.00am on Friday 27 September and is likely to be completed by 6:00pm that evening.
  • The area to be burnt is 14.4 hectares along the northeastern boundary of the reserve.
  • This is a landscape protection burn to reduce the likelihood of the whole reservoir reserve burning in a single bushfire event.
  • The prescribed burn will occur outside of the public access area and Mount Bold Reservoir Reserve will remain open to visitors.
  • No roads will be closed during the burn.
  • Light smoke may be visible from the townships of Mylor, Jupiter Creek and Bradbury.
  • National Parks and Wildlife Service and SA Water crews will remain on site until safe.
  • Forestry SA crews have been invited to attend.

NPWSSA conducts a statewide program of prescribed burns to reduce the spread and intensity of bushfires, protect communities and enhance biodiversity. Prescribed burning is just one tool used to reduce fuel loads across strategic areas of public and private land.

Prescribed burns will only be carried out when it is deemed safe to do so and may be cancelled at short notice.
