Date posted: 30 Oct. 2024
A prescribed burn is planned at Mount Bold Reservoir Reserve, in the Adelaide Mount Lofty Ranges, on Thursday 31 October, weather conditions permitting.
- The burn will start at 3.30pm on Thursday 31 October and is likely to be completed by 6:00pm that evening.
- The area to be burnt is 0.9 hectares within the reserve near Kangarilla.
- The reserve will remain open during this time.
- The burn is taking place in a revegetation area to encourage the regeneration of directly seeded indigenous grasses.
- No roads will be closed, however the burn will run adjacent to Mount Bold Road, the main entry point to the reservoir and works depot.
- Mount Bold Road will be impacted by smoke.
- National Parks and Wildlife Service crews will remain on site until safe.
NPWSSA conducts a statewide program of prescribed burns to reduce the spread and intensity of bushfires, protect communities and enhance biodiversity. Prescribed burning is just one tool used to reduce fuel loads across strategic areas of public and private land. Prescribed burns will only be carried out when it is deemed safe to do so and may be cancelled at short notice.
