Prescribed burn at Paracombe
Date posted: 12 Apr. 2024
A prescribed burn is planned on private land east of Paracombe, in the Adelaide Mount Lofty Ranges on Saturday 13 April, weather conditions permitting.
- The burn will start at 12:00pm on Saturday 13 April and is likely to be completed by 5:30pm that evening.
- The area to be burnt is 10.2 hectares of private land east of Tilmouth Road in Paracombe. This privately-owned native vegetation connects to the south-western side of Millbrook Reservoir.
- It is a landscape protection burn to reduce fuel loads in the Paracombe landscape.
- No roads will be closed during the burn, nor are they expected to be impacted by smoke.
- National Parks and Wildlife Service crews will remain on site until safe.
NPWSSA conducts a statewide program of prescribed burns to reduce the spread and intensity of bushfires, protect communities and enhance biodiversity. Prescribed burning is just one tool used to reduce fuel loads across strategic areas of public and private land.
Prescribed burns will only be carried out when it is deemed safe to do so and may be cancelled at short notice.
