Prescribed burn at Pinkawillinie Conservation Park
Date posted: 21 Mar. 2024
A prescribed burn is planned at Pinkawillinie Conservation Park, on the northern Eyre Peninsula, on Friday 22 March 2024, weather conditions permitting.
- The prescribed burn will start at 2pm and is likely to be completed by 9pm Friday 22 March.
- The area to be burnt is 300 hectares along Buckleboo Stock Route in Pinkawillinie Conservation Park, 50km north-west of Kimba.
- This is a landscape protection burn to reduce the risk of fire impacting the park in event of a bushfire.
- Buckleboo Stock Route will be closed for the duration of the burn.
- National Parks and Wildlife Service crews will remain on site until safe.
NPWSSA conducts a statewide program of prescribed burns to reduce the spread and intensity of bushfires, protect communities and enhances biodiversity. Prescribed burning is just one tool used to reduce fuel loads across strategic areas of public and private land.
Prescribed burns will only be carried out when it is deemed safe to do so and may be cancelled at short notice.
