Prescribed burn at Scott Creek
Date posted: 24 Oct. 2024
A prescribed burn is planned on private land at Scott Creek, in the Adelaide Mount Lofty Ranges, on Friday 25 October, weather conditions permitting.
- The burn will start at 12.00pm on Friday 25 October and is likely to be completed by 5:00pm that evening.
- The area to be burnt is 2.8 hectares on a private property on Illunga Drive at Scott Creek.
- The burn is part of a series of prescribed burns in the Cherry Gardens/Scott Creek area which aim to reduce the extreme bushfire risk posed to life, property and natural values in the surrounding area.
- Illunga Drive and Scott Creek Road may be impacted by smoke.
- National Parks and Wildlife Service crews will remain on site until safe.
NPWSSA conducts a statewide program of prescribed burns to reduce the spread and intensity of bushfires, protect communities and enhance biodiversity. Prescribed burning is just one tool used to reduce fuel loads across strategic areas of public and private land.
Prescribed burns will only be carried out when it is deemed safe to do so and may be cancelled at short notice.
