Prescribed burn at The Plug Range Conservation Park
Date posted: 23 Oct. 2024
A prescribed burn is planned at The Plug Range Conservation Park on the Eyre Peninsula on Thursday, weather conditions permitting.
- The prescribed burn will start at 11am Thursday October 24 2024 and is likely to be completed by 9pm the same day.
- The area to be burnt is 50ha in the park, which is about 30km north-east of Cleve.
- This is a landscape protection burn to reduce the likelihood of the whole park burning in a single bushfire event.
- No roads or trails will be closed throughout the burn.
- Smoke may affect Schubert Road and areas north of the park.
- National Parks and Wildlife Service crews will remain on site until safe.
NPWSSA conducts a statewide program of prescribed burns to reduce the spread and intensity of bushfires, protect communities and enhance biodiversity. Prescribed burning is just one tool used to reduce fuel loads across strategic areas of public and private land.
Prescribed burns will only be carried out when it is deemed safe to do so and may be cancelled at short notice.
