Prescribed burn at Warren Reservoir Track
Date posted: 09 Dec. 2022
A prescribed burn is planned at Warren Reservoir Track in the Mt Lofty Ranges on Friday 9 December, weather conditions permitting.
- The prescribed burn will start at 11.30am and is likely to be completed by 6.00pm the same day.
- The area to be burnt is 3.9 hectares to the north of the South Para River below the dam wall along Track 1D.
- This burn is planned to create a low fuel area along the South Para River between Warren Reservoir and Warren Conservation Park.
- The Warren Reservoir will remain open to the public for kayaking and bush walking. Walking tracks and dam lookout will remain open however may be closed for small time periods during ignition.
NPWSSA conducts a statewide program of prescribed burns to reduce the spread and intensity of bushfires, protect communities and enhances biodiversity. Prescribed burning is just one tool used to reduce fuel loads across strategic areas of public and private land.
Prescribed burns will only be carried out when it is deemed safe to do so and may be cancelled at short notice.
