Riverland floodplains will receive a welcome boost over the coming months with environmental watering undertaken by the Department for Environment and Water.

The Department for Environment and Water is partnering with the Ngarrindjeri Aboriginal Corporation to develop a database of cultural knowledge to inform the future management of the Coorong.

Water users will start to notice a change to the River Murray water levels during July as weir pool raising commences to improve the health of the river and environment.

Record numbers of critically-endangered Murray hardyhead have been rediscovered in the River Murray following water regulation activities at Lock 4 and Katarapko.

A series of public forums are planned throughout July for community members to learn about early findings from Project Coorong’s Infrastructure Investigations Project.
