In encouraging news for the state’s River Murray communities, South Australian irrigators have been advised the projected minimum opening allocation is 82 per cent for the 2021-22 water year. Actual opening allocations will be announced on 15 June.

South Australia’s national parks have continued to grow in popularity with bookings at 100 per cent in the state’s most iconic parks sites in the lead up to the Easter long weekend – which will provide a significant economic boost to our regions.

SA’s River Murray water users are reminded of their long-standing requirement to ensure they have not used more water than their available water allocation at any time and to submit meter readings to DEW at the end of each quarter.

The Department for Environment and Water has begun working with landholders in the Finniss, Tookayerta and Currency Creek catchments to ensure the long term sustainability of water resources as part of its Flows for the Future Program.

A relationship of collaboration and knowledge sharing is at the centre of a partnership between the First Peoples of the River Murray and Mallee Aboriginal Corporation (RMMAC) and the Department for Environment and Water (DEW).
