Department for Environment and Water staff involved in the Katarapko Floodplain Inundation Measures Project had cause for celebration recently, taking out a prestigious South Australian award.

The Coorong and Lower Lakes community has celebrated a major milestone with 10 years of continuous connectivity between the River Murray and Coorong following the Millennium Drought.

Newly-constructed environmental infrastructure including regulators, fishways and a blocking bank has begun its first operations at the Pike and Katarapko floodplains.

Water users along South Australia’s River Murray are reminded of their long-standing requirement to ensure that they have not used more water than their available water allocation at any time and to submit meter readings to DEW at the end of each quarter.

Water levels at the Lock 4 weir pool at Bookpurnong near Berri and Loxton are planned to be further raised up to 30 centimetres as part of a trial underway this winter and spring.
