Targeted and smaller area surveys
Western Gawler Ranges
This report consolidates vegetation quadrat data collected during four separate surveys in the Western Gawler Ranges.
Adelaide Parklands
A biological survey of the Adelaide Parklands was carried out between December 2002 and July 2003 and involved the collection and collation of biodiversity records from a wide range of sources.
Upper South East
The Box and Buloke Woodlands survey was undertaken in December 1995 and analysed the flora and fauna of remnant box and buloke (bull oak) vegetation in the Upper South East.
Chowilla
The biological survey of Chowilla Floodplain was conducted during October 1998. One of the major aims of the survey included producing an inventory of the plant species occurring and assessing habitat use by birds, reptiles, mammals, fish and aquatic invertebrates.
Coastal dune and clifftop
The Coastal Dune and Clifftop survey was undertaken over three years along the coast of South Australia. A total of 849 quadrats were established between October 1995 and November 1997 of which 845 were included in the analysis.
Deep Swamp
The survey of the vegetation and vertebrate fauna of Deep Swamp was undertaken in January 1996. This survey was carried out to determine the potential affects of constructing a drain through this area as part of the Upper South East Dryland Salinity and Flood Management Plan.
Eyre Peninsula
The Eyre Peninsula study presents the results of a biological survey undertaken in 2007 to investigate the impact of the January 2005 wild fire on plant and animal communities using standard quadrats.
Gammon Ranges National Park
The Gammon Ranges National Park paper reports on the findings of an ongoing vegetation monitoring program in the park that was established in 1983.
Goyders Lagoon
The Goyders Lagoon project aimed to describe the natural heritage of the lower Diamantina floodplain, clarify the status of the region's aquatic fauna and provide a basis for assessment of the region for possible listing on the Register of the National Estate.
Lofty Block
In the spring/summer seasons of 1995 and 1996, native grassland and grassy woodland was surveyed in the Lofty Block bioregion.
Kulliparu, Eyre Peninsula
In 1990, a baseline biological survey was conducted to determine the flora and vertebrate fauna communities of the remnant native vegetation in the Kulliparu Conservation Park and adjacent areas.
Lake Eyre South
Studies of the biological components of the Lake Eyre South Study were initiated to identify key habitats, species and localities within the study region.
Marqualpie Land System
The main aim of this survey was to sample the major habitats present in the land system to enable documentation of the range of communities of plants and animals they contain. A total of 32 sites were sampled for vertebrate fauna and vascular plants.
Mokota Conservation Park
Mokota Conservation Park was purchased by the South Australian Government specifically to conserve remnant grassland. The Nature Conservation Society of South Australia Inc and the Threatened Plant Action group of the Threatened Species Network jointly obtained grant funding to create a baseline biodiversity record of the new Park. The work commenced in 1998.
Mt Brown Conservation Park
The vegetation of Mount Brown Conservation Park was surveyed in October 1994. Follow up vertebrate fauna sampling took place during October 1995 and February - March 1997.
Mt Willoughby
The aims of this biological survey were to identify and sample the habitats and associated plants and animals for the Tjirilia Aboriginal Corporation to assist the management of the area for biodiversity.
Murray Mouth
The biological survey of the Murray Mouth Reserves aimed to describe the remaining habitats in the area, to document the flora and fauna, and to map the remnant native vegetation communities of islands of the Murray Mouth.
North West Flinders Ranges
The North West Flinders Ranges biological survey aimed to systematically investigate and describe the variety of habitats supporting the vascular plant and vertebrate animal diversity of the region.
Para Wirra Catchment
The South Para region of the Mount Lofty Ranges north of Adelaide is the focus of many conservation efforts. In the spring 2000, nine sites in the region were surveyed for flora and fauna.
South East
The purpose of this project was to survey blocks of remnant native vegetation in the Upper South East of South Australia with the aim of investigating the possible use of fire as a tool in their management.
Tallaringa
The biological survey of Tallaringa identified the fauna and flora in the recently declared Tallaringa Conservation Park.
Warraweena
Surveys were conducted in July and October 1999 in 14 habitat types to investigate the flora and fauna of the property.
Wetlands of the South East of South Australia
A number of important areas of remnant native vegetation were surveyed for their plant and animal communities to document their biological values prior to drainage works in these areas.
- Bunbury Conservation Reserve and Stoneleigh Park Heritage Agreement
- Gum Lagoon, Upper South East
- Lake Hawdon
- Messent Conservation Park
- Tilley Swamp
- West Avenue Range
Yalata Indigenous Protected Area
A biological survey was conducted in the Yalata Indigenous Protected Area between May 2007 and April 2008. The main aim of this survey was to sample the major habitats and associated flora and fauna to inform the management of the area for biodiversity.
Yumbarra Conservation Park
A survey of the vegetation and vertebrate fauna of Yumbarra Conservation Park and surrounding areas was undertaken in March 1995.
