Peter Canty
Peter is the Manager of the State Herbarium. His current role focuses on developing the Herbarium’s capacity and service delivery through effective team work, good governance, reforms to work processes and developing strong and more effective relationships and partnerships.
Peter's background includes many years spent conducting biological surveys, specialising in herpetology and botany, and specific threatened fauna research including leading national recovery programs for medium-sized arid-zone dasyurid marsupials. He has extensive knowledge of habitats throughout the state and has been a significant contributor to the Herbarium’s collections. He is also interested in fire ecology, having studied post-fire responses in a number of different plant and animal communities.
