Get involved in water for the environment
Both local and broader community involvement is vital in planning and delivering water for the environment.
Empowered communities strengthen government programs that manage and deliver environmental water, and we want communities to feel connected to this way of nourishing local wetlands and waterways
Ways to get involved
If you live or work near a key watering site, consider being a representative on a reference group at Chowilla Floodplain; Coorong, Lower Lakes and Murray Mouth; Pike Floodplain; Katarapko Floodplain, or; River Murray Channel and Floodplain.
You can also:
- Participate in monitoring programs that capture data to inform decisions and reporting
- Join a site tour
- Attend meetings and presentations to give feedback on proposed environmental watering actions
- Meet with us to discuss if you are affected by environmental watering as a landholder or industry representative.
If you are interested in any of these, contact us at dew.ewater@sa.gov.au
People in local communities, volunteer groups and non-government organisations can provide input to proposals for all major environmental watering operations. As a local, your in-depth knowledge of the regions, its infrastructure and ecological processes is valuable.
If you need information about how water deliveries might affect you, get in touch with your local Landscape Board, which manages local environmental water deliveries.
