Outcomes for the SA River Murray
The South Australian Government is required to monitor and evaluate progress under the Basin Plan to ensure its objectives are achieved. The government reports both annually and 5-yearly to the Murray-Darling Basin Authority on the water for the environment plan, water quality and salinity, water trading rules and water resource planning.

Wetlands and floodplains
Water for the environment has many benefits for the wetlands and floodplains along the River Murray. It improves fringing vegetation, supports frog and waterbird breeding, and provides habitat for threatened fish species.
Delivery is managed by DEW, the Murraylands and Riverland Landscape Board and a range of other stakeholders.
Water has been successfully delivered to both permanent and temporary wetlands, and targeted floodplains:
