Water for First Nations remote communities
The Government of South Australia and SA Water are progressing projects to improve water supply to regional and remote communities, including First Nations communities.
SA Water invests in water supply upgrades to the remote communities they service (some remote communities are supplied by local government or are self-supplied). They also provide maintenance and replacement of water assets (like bores and water supply networks) in First Nations communities.
The Department for Environment and Water have completed a stocktake of self-supplied remote communities to enable us to assess their water security risks and identify ongoing water supply options. This stocktake is informing the investment needed to address water supply risks in self-supplied remote communities and we are working with the National Water Grid Authority to progress opportunities to co-fund First Nations remote water security projects.
