The department provides leadership in the monitoring of the state’s water resources through the planning, optimisation and operation of the state’s water resource monitoring networks.

The department also undertakes a range of water monitoring asset management and maintenance activities and supports the state’s water resource development through partnerships and fee for service operational activities for a range of externally funded projects and programs.
